Delete Your Data

Updated July 26, 2026

How you remove your Engram data depends on whether you use the free local app or the optional Engram Sync service.

Before you delete anything, export what you want to keep. Deletion here is immediate and cannot be undone, and because Engram is zero-knowledge there is no copy for us to restore. Any note exports as Markdown, and a whole notebook exports as a plain folder or a .zip — see where your notes are stored and how to export them.

Local (free) app data

If you use Engram without an account, all your notes, recordings, and transcripts live only on your device — we never receive them. To delete this data, delete individual notes in the app (Trash → permanently delete) or uninstall Engram. Nothing needs to be requested from us.

Engram Sync account data

If you created a Sync account, you can permanently delete it — along with all associated server-side data — directly in the app:

  1. Open Engram and make sure you're signed in to your account.
  2. Go to Settings → Account & Sync → Delete account.
  3. Re-enter your account password and confirm the acknowledgement.

Deletion takes effect immediately and removes your account and everything stored server-side: your end-to-end-encrypted note data, encrypted key material, encrypted audio backups, and subscription/billing metadata. We don't offer a web-based deletion form — a web form can't verify who owns an account, while the in-app flow confirms your password before anything is deleted.

Deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once your account is deleted, the encrypted data on our servers is gone — and because it's zero-knowledge, it was never readable by us to begin with. Notes already on your devices are unaffected; remove those by deleting them locally or uninstalling.

Subscriptions

If you subscribed on desktop (card checkout via Stripe), your subscription is canceled automatically as part of account deletion. If you subscribed through Google Play or the App Store, we can't cancel that for you — cancel it from the store's subscriptions page (the deletion screen in the app links you there). Deleting your account does not stop store billing on its own.

Can't access the app?

If you no longer have access to a signed-in device, email support@littlefort.io from your account email address and we'll verify the request and complete the deletion within 30 days, sooner where possible. A limited amount of data may be retained beyond that only where security or legal compliance requires it.

Whatever you decide here, the notes on your own devices remain yours. Nothing on this page touches them.
